Dispatches from the Challenge

 While the world continues to look to CA for leadership and innovation in solving the climate crisis, Resilient by Design builds upon the Rebuild by Design concept in New York - taking it to the next level by preparing for disaster before it happens.

Trying to predict the future of our baylands could seem foolhardy given uncertainty in climate change, ecological “tipping points,” and how people prepare for these changes. Despite this, the region’s shoreline will be transformed in response to climate change and a growing human population. As we plan for the future, we must consider how to manage this transformation for people and wildlife, minimizing negative impacts and maximizing benefits.  

Resilient by Design is excited to partner with the UC Berkeley Center for Cities+Schools (CC+S) through the evidence-based Y-PLAN educational methodology and to be involved in the collaborative effort to create a unified vision for a resilient future for the Bay Area.
